Sprouts Chef Training Launches Fund-A-Future Campaign for Janai Perry

Sprouts Chef Training fundraises for aspiring chef's restaurant training and job placement.

[OAKLAND, CA, June 20, 2022] This week, Sprouts Chef Training launches its first Fund-A-Future campaign for 17-year-old Janai. We aim to raise $5,000 within the week to ensure Janai has a reliable restaurant job when she transitions out of foster care!

Craving community and opportunity in the foster system, Janai applied to the Sprouts Chef Training Program in early 2022. Sprouts found Janai a host restaurant and mentor chef at Chop Bar in Oakland. But, we needed funding for Janai's wages and wraparound training.

‍

From June 20 to June 27, Sprouts will collect donations to help Janai transition out of foster care into a successful career. Through Sprouts' program, she'll gain financial training, individualized support, and culinary expertise to support herself.

‍

Community members can contribute to Janai's campaign with a donation. In doing so, they support her dream to own a restaurant one day and provide jobs to others in need.

Sprouts Chef Training is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit equipping youth to rise from hardship through culinary training and job placement. Youth are paired with a chef mentor and case manager to develop the skills needed to secure and maintain a culinary job. Graduates use these entry-level jobs to kickstart culinary careers, pay for education, or pursue new industries.
