Trainee story
Aarat Satyavolu is a highly dedicated individual with a strong passion for cooking, particularly in the culinary arts. Aarat learned to cook with his mom growing up and has continued to develop his skills independently. He is particularly drawn to fine dining and is fully plant-based, which adds a unique dimension to his culinary aspirations. Currently a project manager, Aarat is deeply committed to pursuing a career that aligns with his values, having always had an interest in cooking Ararat found Sprouts Chef Training. Aarat's background in tech has given him strong organizational and communication skills, but his heart is in food, and he’s eager to make this shift in his career. Arat was eager to start developing his culinary skills at Wayfare Tavern with Chef Dehvan.
Aarat has made significant strides. He’s been learning essential techniques, including some hands-on work in the pastry section and various other aspects of the kitchen. He’s gained independence and is managing multiple projects at once, such as juggling three different dishes at once. He has also improved his pastry skills, particularly in working with popovers and butter rosettes, which he finds fascinating. Aarat is fully invested in his culinary journey and is excited to explore different parts of the kitchen, especially vegetarian and savory dishes. He is realizing that working in culinary offers varied experiences and flexibility, allowing him to break free from the traditional 9-5 job structure and explore multiple income streams. Aarat has also found the accountability and tangible results of working in the kitchen incredibly satisfying. The quick feedback loop—serving food, seeing people enjoy it, and receiving immediate feedback—has been a motivating factor for him. This hands-on work has built his self-confidence and discipline, especially as he’s worked through the challenges of overcoming distractions and staying focused.
Outside of cooking, Aarat enjoys scuba diving, painting, and collecting model Lego sets. His love for scuba diving has taken him to places like Thailand and the Maldives, where he’s had memorable experiences, including diving with sharks. This diverse set of interests highlights Aarat’s curious nature and desire to explore both in and out of the kitchen. Overall, Aarat is ready to leave his tech job behind and fully pursue his passion for cooking. He remains open to gaining more experience in different areas of the kitchen and is eager to continue growing in the culinary world. He looks forward to building his skills, learning from experienced chefs, and eventually making cooking a lifelong career.
