Trainee story

Eddy has a variety of interests, from math to psychology to physics. However, as a senior in high school, he wanted to explore all of the career possibilities available to him. This led Eddy to Sprouts Chef Training where he cooked under the mentorship of Chef Andres at Snail Bar restaurant.While at Snail Bar, Eddy learned many skills, including time management, working efficiently, communication, and teamwork. Eddy especially appreciated that the team at Snail Bar was fun to hang around and talk with. In terms of culinary skills, Eddy enjoyed shucking oysters and he picked up quickly on the best technique for opening them. He says the key is to make sure the shucker is deep enough in the oyster, otherwise it won't open! Another skill Eddy looks forward to mastering is his knife skills, particularly when it comes to chopping herbs as finely as possible. What Eddy enjoys about cooking is that it can serve many functions. He seeks cooking as an art form and craft that provides sustenance for us and can have a huge influence on your mood and satisfaction. He also likes that there is always something new to learn about cooking and that you're never really done learning. Outside of the kitchen, Eddy likes working out, watching Anime and Youtube videos, and occasionally playing video games, but he also devotes a lot of time to school. We at Sprouts are excited to see where Eddy's hard work, eagerness to learn, and perseverance take him!
