Trainee story
Raised by her parents in Oakland, Jada has enjoyed cooking and baking at home. These activities soon developed into a passion, and she began to help out at her aunt’s food service. Interested in more opportunities than her neighborhood could offer, Jada applied to the Chef-In-Training program. Today, Jada is exploring cooking as a professional chef as an intern at Funky Elephant, a Thai restaurant in Berkeley, under the mentorship of chef/owner Supasit, more casually known as chef O.
